What kind of degree or certification do you need? These programs are offered by many vocational and private schools, and usually consist of about 600 to 800 hours of training. Some schools have a salon or clinic where students provide services to the public. This is a very good way to gain experience. Once you have completed an esthetician program, you will need to be licensed by your state. Exact requirements vary, but in most cases you will need to pass a written test. Contact your state board or talk to a school counselor to find out about licensing requirements in your area.
